CYCLE4ADVENTURE have two MTB Introduction courses:-

• INTRODUCTION TO eMTB Riding

INTRODUCTION TO MOUNTAIN BIKING

For those who have never ventured offroad, are a bit rusty and would like a refresher, or if you just want a bit of confidence, this course is designed to lead you off the firm tracks onto forest style tracks and gentle single track.

Normally held in Hamsterley Forest, the course will introduce you to the essential skills required for off road riding, including: use of gears, balance, braking, climbing and descending, so you can discover the enjoyment of offroad biking safely.

The course also aims to inform you about mountain bikes and the equipment you may need to enjoy the sport (please see equipment list below, for equipment you will need for the course).

As with all our Skills Courses it is available as 1:1, Group Private Hire or you can join in one of the open courses we run.

Pre entry requirements

You will need to be happy riding your bike on hard surface routes (some gentle off road experience is beneficial but not a mandatory).

Course may include:-

• About the bike and equipment
• Use of gears
• Basic skills (balance and control)
• Riding on hills (gentle climbing and descending and efficient braking)
• Riding the Hamsterley Forest Skills Loop

INTRODUCTION TO eMTB Riding course

This course is ideal for those who are new to E-MOUNTAIN BIKING (but have ridden non-powered MTBs prior) and those who have ridden their eMTB off-road on forest style tracks and gentle single track, but are looking to journey into more technical terrain; such as Blue and Gentle Red graded trails and moorland single track.

The courses will develop your existing skills and introduce the skills used on an eMTB, including: climbing and descending steeper slopes, small drop off’s, choice of line and riding over obstacles.

The course also informs you about the optimum set up and riding style to help you get the most out of your eMTB, and can include:-

• Bike set up and safety checks
• Using the power modes, gears and cadence to get the most from your eMTB
• Core techniques (body position, braking, centre of gravity, weight of eMTB)
• eMTB Techniques (climbing, descending, corning, line choice, obstacles, using dropper posts and introduction to drops)

E-Mountain Bikes

We welcome riders on eMTB’s as well as none powered MTB’s, on most of our MTB Courses, Camps and Guided Rides.

Please note eMTB riders must be at least 14 years old and eMTB’s must be UK & EU “Pedalec” legal. Riders of eMTB’s must also be respectful and tolerant to riders of  none  powered bikes (and vice-versa).
